Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may
present everyone mature in Christ. (Colossians 1:28)
Community Groups foster mutual intentionality and accountability, so that we can help each other grow into Christian maturity as we strive to obey all that The Lord Jesus has commanded, including:
This is the Great Commission given to us by Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20). We are not called to primarily grow in number but to “make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything” Jesus has commanded.
(Matt 28:18-20, Luke 9:23, John 14:15, 15:8, 15:16, 1 Cor 11:1, Eph 2:10, Col 1:9-10, 1 John 2:1-6)
We are not only bound together by the blood of Jesus, but we are called to genuinely love and serve one another.
(John 13:35, Acts 2:42-46, Rom 12:10, Eph 2:19, Phil 2:3)
Developing/Maintaining Spiritual Rhythms
Scripture sets many patterns for us that rhythms are beneficial (i.e. God created in 6 days/rested 1 and the biblical work week is a reflection of this rhythm). We want to make time for lament, celebration, and rest within our Community Groups.
(Deut 4:35, 1 Chron 16:34, Psalm 16:2, 71:8, 95:6, 150:6, Isaiah 46:9, Rom 11:36, 12:1, Rev 5:13)
Growing & Multiplying
Not only is our goal to develop maturing disciples of Jesus, but to see that multiply as new people come to faith in Jesus through the proclamation of the Gospel from each group. As we grow as disciples, we desire to see more groups started throughout Southern Indiana so that more will move from death to life by faith in Christ.
(Math 9:37-38, 28:19, Mark 1:17, 16:15, John 17:18, Acts 1:8, Rom 1:16, 10:13-15, 1 Cor 9:19-23, 2 Cor 5:11a, 1 Pet 3:15)
