Redeemer Church was planted by Brad Walker in 2015 in cooperation with the North American Mission Board, Southeastern Indiana Baptist Association, and several other local churches in order to faithfully proclaim the Good News of Jesus in Southern Indiana.

Faith Community Church was started in 1983 in the northern end of New Albany. Under the recent leadership of David Harkleroad, the congregation has developed a rich love for the Word of God and desires to impact the community with the Good News of Jesus.David and Brad were introduced in 2017 and a friendship quickly formed. It was a blessing to have a like-minded pastor in the area to share the joys and burdens of pastoral ministry, not to mention let our kids get together and play. Through this time, they eventually began talking about whether or not merging the two congregations would be a good step forward.

After many months of praying and seeking outside counsel, the elders of both churches met for the first time in November of 2019 and began exploring a potential merger.Over the next month both churches hosted “town hall” meetings, had private conversations with members, and asked/answered questions of one another. In December of 2019, the elders decided to move forward with the idea and formally present the idea of a merger to each respective church.

On April 5, 2020, members of Redeemer Church and Faith Community Church affirmed the merger of these two congregations into one body, now forming South Point Church. Our desire is to continue being a bold Gospel witness in Southern Indiana, making disciples here while also discovering/developing/deploying more pastors, church planters, counselors, and missionaries to carry that mission forward - all for the glory of God.
